Lanai - a place to get away from it all
Only 2000 residents live on the small island (140 sq. miles) under the lee of Molokai and Maui.
The biggest pineapple plantation in the world is to be found here. It belongs to the Dole Pineapple Company. In spite of that Lanai is a wonderful place to go with gorgeous, lonesome beaches, hiking trails across a mountain region full of wild animals and its tiny, cool major town Lanai City at 1640 ft above sea level, where you find a handful of quite good hotels.
